Catch-up!

Remember how I said I would keep up with this blog and actually write? Yeah, I am totally horrible! There is SO much that has happened this semester that its crazy. I'll try to catch y'all up though...
Ready.... Set... GO:
I GOT ENGAGED!! So, I know that sounds a little crazy seeings I haven't talked about a boyfriend at all on here... oops :) Okay, so his name is Ethan Parry and he is from Washington. He is wonderful and everything I could have ever dreamed of to become my husband. I will post tomorrow more about us and how he proposed. (I promise) Stay tuned!
As roommates, we all went to the Museum of Idaho to see the King Tut exhibit. Lauren and I had fun playing around and taking pictures with things in the entire museum!
I spent my Thanksgiving break in Washington with Ethan and his family. They are so wonderful and so much like my family it's crazy! Oh! Let me tell you about Washington, holy crap it is GORGEOUS! It is so green! Everywhere! Also, I went and cut down Christmas trees with them and it was so fun to run around a Christmas tree farm with all the little kids looking for the perfect tree!
Of course, what would a semester be without my best friend. This girl.. man, I love her guts! I honestly don't know what I would do without her!
Today, Kara and I got our picture taken with SANTA! Yes, we sat on a grown man's lap, but that isn't what concerns me... My question is WHY isn't Santa smiling? He's like a Solemn Santa :( oh well he was really nice! Kara and I got a kick out of it too!

This semester was wonderful! My roommates were all awesome girls and I love them! But, alas, it is time to go home and plan my wedding! Ethan and I are getting married on March 30, 2013 in the Dallas, Texas temple. I am more than excited!
Until next time!

Bugs on the windshield

Road-trip Day 6: (Thursday)
Thursday the boys came over and we played Frisbee then went mini golfing!  Good news I didn't loose!! Lauren did! ;) er.. I mean she got the high score! Later that evening we went out to dinner with my aunts and grandma, and my baby boy!! This kid is so adorable, he's in his terrible threes and he for sure knows he is hilarious.  It was wonderful to see them and to hang out with my little boy!
Road-trip Day 7: (Friday)
This was our last day in SLC so we called up the boys :).  We went and flew kites.. which didn't really work out because there was absolutely no wind! However, we had a ton of fun running around looking like retards! Then we just kind of hung out and went to the drive-in movies and watched The Dark
Night Rises! Now, when you go to the drive-in you don't really go so much for the movie as for just the experience. Well let me tell you, we had a BLAST! After the movie we went back to Steve's house and laid on the driveway talking, watching the shooting stars. WE SAW SO MANY!!!! Seriously it was probably one of the most fun nights I've had in a long time.. Wait. Scratch that. Most fun weeks!
Road-trip Day 8: (Saturday)
This was our driving day. We woke up, watched some Olympics then got on the road.  We drove 4 hours from Salt Lake to Twin Falls, ID for Kaitlyn (our roommate's wedding reception).  She looked beautiful!
The lovely bride with our other roommate, Amanda.
Her reception was so fun, and it was wonderful to see Amanda and her again! After the reception Lauren and I headed back to Rexburg.  Another 4 hour drive. We pulled in about 2:30 am.  BUT we found Rainbow Road from mario kart!!

It was a long drive but we talked and goofed off a whole bunch. Pretty much the best road-trip ever!

SL,UT

Remember how I previously mentioned how we drove down to Utah? Well here is our story of how we got there, because any road-trip in lovely Patty (my car) is not a road-trip without a little bump in the road.
Road-trip Day 1: (Saturday)
We left Rexburg about 3 hours behind schedule... BEHIND! However, our apartment is sparkling and Sara Nobles is all moved into her new place.  We got down the road about an hour (we were just south of Blackfoot, ID) when my tire blew out.  Not only did it pop or get a hole or anything, it looked like grated cheese!! Not good! So, being the awesome car technician I am I took this as a teaching opportunity to teach Sara (who had never changed a tire before) how to correctly change a tire and NOT get hit by jerk drivers who apparently don't see three girls stranded on the side of a freeway.  So I put on the doughnut and called Daddy, who found me a place in Pocatello where I could go to get a new tire.  We got to Costco and waited about an hour and a half for the result of 4 new tires that won't pop!
On a side note, while in Costco we found this man, Rodney L. Meldrum, he wrote this awesome book about the Book of Mormon and the architectural and historical evidence that it really is true and really did happen! He signed a copy of his book for us and was extremely great to talk to! Here is his website, check it out! http://www.bookofmormonevidence.org/
Alright, back to the roadtrip.. Well we successfully got Sara to Murray, then got Lauren and I back up to Syracuse at about 10 pm! Just a little later than anticipated.
Road-trip Day 2: (Sunday)
This was a relaxing day spent up in Ogden, UT getting a tour of all the stuff my Great Grandma used to do and places she used to go.  We went on a drive through Ogden Canyon and then went to Union station.

Road-trip Day 3: (Monday)
Monday evening Lauren drove out to Payson, UT (down near Orem). She kind of took a detour. As she was driving she got on the freeway going North instead of South and got to Orem about 2 hours after she had originally planned!
That night while Lauren was out with my car I went on a date! Steve served about 3 months of his mission in my ward in Texas while waiting on his visa to go to the West Indies.  He got home about April this year and came up to visit in Rexburg on July 4th. Steve lives like 5 minutes from Grandma's house, so he asked me out on a date while I was down here visiting. After he picked me up we went to the Golf course and he attempted to teach me how to golf.  I say attempted not because he is a bad teacher, but because I really don't know how to golf and I was doing horribly! So, after golfing we went to Costa Vida and got food and took it to the park to eat. Then we bought fireworks and wasted time until it got dark. Can you guess what we did when the sun went down?? We burnt our fingers, kind of a lot! But the fireworks were tons of fun to set off and we had a blast! After our fireworks escapades, we went back to his house and watched half of "The Labyrinth".  It has seriously been FOREVER since I've seen that movie!
Road-trip Day 4: (Tuesday)
PIONEER DAY! So, Pioneer Day is an official state holiday here in Utah. Lauren and I have never celebrated pioneer day being from Texas and it is obviously not a holiday there! We "hired" Steve and his buddy Casey to be our Pioneer Day tour guides. They did a great job! We woke up extremely early and caught the frontrunner train to downtown SLC.  The train left the station at 6:30 AM! When we got downtown nothing was open yet because it was really early and the parade didn't start till 9... so we killed time for 2 hours! Then the parade started.  And seriously, I've never seen a parade this big.  Only like the Mavs Victory Parade or Macy's Thanksgiving Parade on TV. The parades in The Colony are like super lame compared to this one! It was like 2+ hours long and the floats were so pretty! After the parade we went and toured temple square thoroughly and just walked all around downtown.. We finally got back to the train about 6pm... That means we walked around in the sun for 12 hours!!!! Crazy! Our feet hurt so bad! After that the four of us went out to dinner and then met up with some of their friends and shot off more fireworks.  Then finally, we went on a walk through Layton Park. The guys swear this park is haunted, but I'm not sure.  If anything it's a little dark! haha.
Road-trip Day 5: (Wednesday)
HAPPY BIRTHDAY GRAMS! Today is Grandma's 94th birthday! So, pretty much Lauren and I are hangin out with her for the day!

To Be Continued....

Batman, White glove, and Roadtrips!

Last night we went to the opening showing of the dark night rises!!! HOLY COW!! Great movie! So, our showing was at 3:25 am, so the theater wasn't full at all. But the guys that sat behind us would not stop talking! And they talked at the worst parts possible. We're definitely going to need to see it again!
So we move this week and our apartment has to be spotless. However, Lauren and I have a problem. We can't actually clean till about 1 am..  so we had been picking up a bit and talking a lot about cleaning but didn't really do much till 1.
Now its 4. I just got Lauren out of my bed. Neither of us can sleep. And we're driving to Utah tomorrow!! We are going to have a week that we can to absolutely whatever! We're going to celebrate pioneer day for the first time, I am going on a date, and grandma turns 94 on Wednesday!! Happy birthday grams! Roadtrip t-minus 8 hours! Utah, get ready!! TEXAS is comin to town!

HOWDY

WELL HOWDY Y'ALL! So, I was looking through friends' blogs and had a brilliant idea to start an actual blog and maybe team up with my lovely Lauren. So we're going to introduce ourselves.
Lauren and I are studying in Idaho and OF COURSE we're roommates! We've always told everyone that we've known each other a pregnancy, but we were told today that it has been a little over a year.. so that means the baby of our relationship is 3 months old! Its cute by the way!

We decided that we should probably use this post to educate those about the sun. Did you know that elevation totally plays a role in how bad you get sunburned? Well yeah, apparently it does. We're from 300 ft above sea level. 300! Do you know the elevation of Rexburg? 4865 ft. Yeah, just a tad bit higher than home. So because we are essentially closer to the sun that means our skin is more vulnerable. Well I spent a lovely 6 hours out in the sun and Lauren was out for about 2 1/2. We are baked, charred, cooked, singed, yep, we are burnt like toast! Redder than lobsters. So for those looking to go out into the sun anytime soon, put on sunscreen, please, at least a little! If however you decide to not listen to my council then never fear, Tylenol PM is your savior. If you happen to be a poor college student though, Ibuprofen and Benadryl work great too! Just make sure you give yourself enough time to wake up, Lauren and I missed church. Oops.
